Sitting out by the Oakwood switches over the weekend I caught both Empire Builders. This is the Northbound Empire builder on its way through Racine. I was surprised that I got the whole length of the train. The empire is one of the busiest long distance routes and travels over 2000 miles. It is a daily train that takes around 46 hours to travel. It is pulled by two Amtrak Genesis units and consists of a baggage car and sleeper, diners, and coach cars. The route dates back to the Great Northern route that started in 1929.
Nice!
